Impact of Intellectual Output

The most relevant aspects of INOVATEC’s impact and innovative character are its capacity to implement its LACTs (Laboratórios Associados de Cirurgia Translacional – Associated Laboratories of Translational Surgery) and execute scientific-technological projects that can contribute to improved surgical patient outcomes, associated with the formation of qualified human resources with the potential to support the development of Brazil’s health economic-industrial complex.

INOVATEC considers faculty publication citations in public policies and patents, as well as company participation in publications and peer citations, as evidence of the Program’s intellectual production’s innovative potential. The results of the survey by the Overton platform indicated that the four-year production, regardless of the participation time of Faculty and Students in the program, was cited in public policies in the United Kingdom, China, and South Korea, including two documents from NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) in the United Kingdom. Analysis on the SciVal platform showed that one publication had company participation and two publications were cited in patents. There was also a progressive increase in the number of citations of publications originating from the program’s output, serving as an indicator of the Program’s quality. Specific awards received by faculty members are also indicators of this innovative potential and the Program’s quality. The Program understands that the low student participation in productions is an indicator of growth potential through increased recruitment of more students.

Social Impact of Book Publication:

The Program considers the publication of books as technical products with a scientific basis that provide an opportunity for the dissemination of knowledge and experience of faculty and students to other services and regions in Brazil and abroad, constituting a continuing education action with the potential for social impact. There is encouragement for students to participate as chapter authors, especially on topics related to their own LACT, reinforcing the learning process. During the four-year period, in addition to the publication of books related to Dissertation products, the following books with the participation of Program faculty were published:

    1) Tratado de Anestesiologia – SAESP: edited by Maria José Carvalho Carmona and collaborators. Editora dos Editores, 2025. ISBN: 9786561030540

Impact Related to the Publication of Scientific Articles:

Although the publication of articles in scientific journals is not the primary objective of the PPG’s (Programa de Pós-Graduação – Graduate Program) intellectual production, the outputs can also be disseminated in this format, either as a primary or secondary product through letters to the editor, editorials, and similar publications. The few citations related to the four-year period’s publications contribute to increasing the PPG’s visibility.
